It’s just a matter of time.įor those discussing demographics and age, I took the basic MSF course a few weeks ago, and most of the class were late teens to late 20s and seemed pretty excited. But I went to a motorcycle festival two weeks ago and here’s what I noticed: there are far fewer younger people riding than older people. Motorcycle clubs can do great and good things, but too many attract the wrong people for the wrong reasons. I’ve been through swamps and valleys and I made a snowball at the top of a mountain in July once. Across a desert with moonlight so bright I needed my tinted visor. I’ve ridden my bike through inner city streets and across rolling prairie. There are exceptions - I was in the Gold Wing Road Rider Association before they broke apart and although I’m not as old as most of those guys (ok any of those guys), they were a great bunch of people to hang around with. The reason for this is when you get them in groups, the average IQ goes way down and the average testosterone goes way up.
Here’s my honest truth: I love motorcycles.
